This is the most recent version of one of our most popular titles. New Zealand is a fabulous travel destination. This edition of our map updates whatever information needed attention, but is essentially the same tried-and-true map that has guided visitors to a successful exploration of the two main islands and the several off-islands for donkey’s years. We have added inset maps of Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington, and small inset maps of several off-islands. Interestingly, the country maintains a bus/train/ferry transit system between Auckland and Greymouth via Christchurch. This facilitates self-travel without needing a vehicle – just this map!

The map displays the North Island on one side and the South Island and on the other, each accompanied by a separate index. Road networks include motorways, main, secondary and unsurfaced minor roads and tracks, with intermediate distances on major roads. Symbols clearly indicate international, domestic airports and landing grounds. Railways and ferry routes are also shown.

Topography is represented by altitude colouring and graphics indicate rivers, lakes, glaciers etc. Numerous spot heights are marked with names of mountain ranges and other geographical features. Symbols locate various places of interest including camping and caravan sites, viewpoints, national parks and reserves, caves, hot spring etc. Clearly marked are ski, fishing and surfing areas, golf courses, selected paths and walking trails, beaches, diving sites ports etc. Provinces are marked and named.

The map includes street plans of central Auckland and Wellington. The Auckland plan extends from the Waitemata Harbour in the north to the Eden Terrace area in the south and Ponsonby in the west. The Wellington plan extends from Lower Hutt and the Westpac Trust Stadium in the north to Mount Cook and the Airport in the south and the Botanic gardens in the west. The clear plan shows the roads and street names and one way streets, railway lines and stations, bus stations, parking and shopping centres, accommodation, tourist information points, theatres, museums, parks and gardens etc.

Additional small insets show the surrounding island at different scales: Antipodes Islands at 1:800,000, Auckland Islands at 1:2,000,000, Bounty Islands at 1:400,000, Campbell Islands at 1:800,000, Chatham Islands at 1:2,000,000 and Kermades Islands at 1:4,000,000.
