The history of the Ramat de Camins trail dates back
to 1956, when the writers and keen walkers Camilo
José Cela and Josep Maria Espinàs undertook a
walking trip through the region comprising the
counties of Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Val d’Aran and
Alta Ribagorça.
This map and walking guide covers the first five stages of the walk, grouped together with the name
Ramat de l‘Est. The first day involves accessing the
Pyrenees via the mythical gorge known as the
Congost de Collegats and the rest of the stages offer
a chance to discover various valleys around the edge
of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National
Park, as well as the Alt Pirineu Natural Park.
